NEENAH, WI – October 15, 2026 – PRESSADVANTAGE –
ABT Foundation Solutions, a provider of foundation and basement services in Northeast Wisconsin since 2002, performed foundation restoration work on a 100-year-old log cabin in Hazelhurst. The project involved rebuilding the foundation of the structure as part of a broader restoration effort by its owner. The company, which completes 800 to 1,200 jobs annually, applied its standard assessment and repair process to the cabin after determining that the original foundation no longer provided adequate support.
Older log cabins and similar structures often face settlement, moisture intrusion, and material deterioration over time. In northern Wisconsin, freeze-thaw cycles and variable soil conditions can accelerate these issues. ABT Foundation Solutions began the work with an evaluation of the existing foundation, followed by the installation of new support elements designed to stabilize the cabin for continued use. The approach prioritizes structural integrity while accommodating the age and construction methods of the building.
The company typically starts projects with a free inspection. Technicians document conditions, identify contributing factors such as soil movement or water exposure, and develop a written plan before crews begin. All installers and staff undergo weekly training and hold certifications in foundation repair and basement waterproofing. ABT Foundation Solutions does not use subcontractors, which the company states allows consistent application of its methods across residential, commercial, and specialized projects.
Dan Dillenberg, Co-Owner of ABT Foundation Solutions, noted the practical considerations involved with older buildings. “With an older cabin like this, it’s important to understand the condition of the existing foundation and what the structure needs for long-term support,” Dillenberg said. He and Mickey Stachurski assumed ownership of the company at the start of 2024. Stachurski began in the basement industry in 2008 and later worked as a foreman and project manager. Dillenberg joined ABT as a project manager in 2014.
The cabin restoration is one example of the company’s full-service model. The same crews that handle foundation stabilization also install interior drainage systems, sump equipment, crawl space encapsulation, concrete leveling through polyjacking, egress windows, and gutter systems. Materials for these projects are selected based on site conditions rather than a single product type. The company maintains an A-plus rating with the Better Business Bureau and provides a written guarantee covering the agreed scope of work.
Dillenberg added that the process for the cabin followed the same sequence used on other properties. “Every foundation is different, so the first step is figuring out what’s causing the problem before deciding how to address it,” he said. Project managers with long tenures, including staff who advanced from crew positions, oversee field work. Office personnel coordinate scheduling so that most jobs begin within three weeks of a completed inspection.
Seasonal weather in the region continues to influence foundation performance. Fall precipitation and the approach of freezing temperatures can increase moisture near footings and contribute to further movement if drainage or support is inadequate. ABT Foundation Solutions has observed these patterns across Northeast Wisconsin and incorporates them into assessments of both newer homes and older structures. Free inspections remain available for property owners seeking an evaluation of settlement, cracking, or water-related concerns.
The company was founded in 2002. Its services include foundation repair, basement waterproofing, crawl space repair, concrete leveling, egress window installation, and gutter work for residential and commercial properties. Crews, estimators, and office staff collectively handle thousands of projects involving basements, foundations, concrete, crawl spaces, and drainage systems.
