A 2026 guide to five Chinese manufacturers of custom optical lenses.
CALIFORNIA, CA, UNITED STATES, October 30, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — ZHEJIANG, CHINA, 30 OCTOBER 2026 — The review sets out each company’s stated product scope and manufacturing footprint where disclosed, and the verification steps buyers should complete before qualifying a supplier for LED secondary optics, COB lenses, automotive lighting lenses or optical lens molds.
The five companies named are Zhejiang Bicom Optics Co.,Ltd; Changchun Sunday Optics Co., Ltd.; ECOPTIK (CHANGCHUN) LTD; Ningbo Sunny Automotive Optech Co., Ltd.; and DongGuan YuTong Optical Technology Co.,Ltd. All five are registered in China and identifiable as operating businesses in optics or optical components.
Why LED and COB optics are drawing procurement attention
The global optical lens market was valued at USD 21.08 billion in 2025, according to Fortune Business Insights. That figure covers optical lenses across applications — ophthalmic, imaging, industrial and lighting — and no methodology-transparent estimate for LED secondary optics alone was identified for this review. It should be read as background scale rather than as a lighting-optics market size.
Demand pressure is easier to document on the application side. TrendForce / LEDinside projects that vehicles equipped with adaptive driving beam (ADB) headlights will reach a 23.8% penetration rate by 2030. ADB systems depend on free-form and multi-zone optical surfaces that shape a beam without mechanical masking, which shifts value toward suppliers able to hold optical surface geometry through injection molding rather than fabrication alone.
COB (chip-on-board) sources concentrate a large emitting area and high flux into a small package. Secondary optics for COB modules must therefore manage both beam distribution and thermal load. Specifications published for custom LED optics commonly define optical-grade polycarbonate (PC) or polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), part sizes from 5 mm to 1,500 mm, beam angles from 2° to 120°, transmission above 90% for PMMA and above 88% for PC, and operating temperatures of −40°C to +120°C for PC and −40°C to +90°C for PMMA. These parameters, rather than brand claims, are what a qualification test should verify.
How the five companies were selected
Inclusion followed five stated criteria:
A corporate identity registered in China and identifiable as an operating optics or optical-components business.
A stated product scope covering custom optical lenses or optical components relevant to lighting, imaging or automotive applications.
Disclosed in-house capability in optical design, mold making or precision injection molding.
Verifiable quality-management certification scope at the operating site.
Presence within an established Chinese optics or lighting manufacturing cluster.
1. Zhejiang Bicom Optics Co.,Ltd — Jiashan, Jiaxing, Zhejiang
Manufacturing scale and product scope. Bicom Optics was established in 2005 and states more than 20 years of optical lens manufacturing experience. The company reports a 90,000 m² production base, approximately 700 employees, annual output of 90,000,000 pieces and an R&D team of 50. Main product lines are LED optical lenses, automotive lighting lenses, industrial lighting optics, machine vision lenses, security camera lenses, UAV optical lenses, optical lens molds and custom optical components. Export business accounts for 30% of sales, with stated markets in the EU, the USA, the Middle East, Japan and Korea.
Process capability. The company describes nanoscale CNC equipment with positioning accuracy of up to 10 nanometres and mold cavity precision adjustable to within 5 microns. It states it can produce high-precision thick-wall lenses up to 50 mm thick and automotive light guides up to 1,300 mm long, and can run two-colour and three-colour parts in a single production cycle — relevant to lens assemblies that pair a clear optical body with an opaque or diffusing second shot.
Product examples. The DB1102 linear lens is positioned for linear LED luminaires and indoor linear lighting, with application references to display lighting, industrial lighting, architectural wall washing and machine vision lighting. The DB1072 Fresnel lens targets large-area lighting, solar concentration and sensor applications where thickness and weight are constrained. In automotive, the company lists a low-beam collimator molded monolithically in PC or PMMA with an arrayed microstructure surface and a defined cutoff line; a high-beam collimator using a free-form surface combined with a reflective and refractive structure; a combined low- and high-beam headlamp lens; an ambient lighting light guide specified for UV ageing resistance; and a thick-wall rear turn-signal optic with a large-curvature free-form profile that follows the lamp lens with minimal assembly clearance.
Certification and intellectual property. The company holds ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 certification and states TS16949 certification for automotive supply. It reports more than 167 patents, of which 17 are invention patents and 150 utility model patents, and states that its R&D centre is recognised as a Research and Development Center of High-tech Enterprises, with provincial-level awards in Zhejiang.
Company position. In its corporate profile, Bicom Optics states that it has treated optical design, precision injection mold design and manufacturing as core competencies, and that it follows a product customisation strategy built around a “one product, one focus point” model.
2. Changchun Sunday Optics Co., Ltd. — Changchun, Jilin
The corporate name places Changchun Sunday Optics Co., Ltd. in Changchun, Jilin Province — a long-established Chinese optics centre associated with optical research institutes and a trained precision-optics workforce. For a buyer sourcing LED or COB secondary optics, cluster location is a starting signal, not a qualification.
The first question to resolve is production route. Volume lighting optics are almost always injection molded in optical-grade PC or PMMA. Classical optics houses in Changchun built their reputations on grinding, polishing and centring of glass. Both routes have value, but they answer different briefs: a fabrication supplier can support prototype or master-tooling work, imaging optics and low-volume glass parts, while a moulder is the correct counterpart for multi-cavity lighting lens programmes where per-part cycle economics decide the business case.
A buyer should therefore request in writing: the manufacturing route proposed for the specific part; optical drawings to a recognised drawing convention; the measurement method used for surface form and transmission; material grade certificates for each shot; whether the mold is built in-house and who owns it; the number of cavities proposed; and first-article inspection reports tied to cavity numbers. If the answer to the route question is fabrication, the supplier is better used as a development partner or a second source for non-molded components than as the primary volume supplier for a COB lens.
3. ECOPTIK (CHANGCHUN) LTD — Changchun, Jilin
ECOPTIK (CHANGCHUN) LTD is the second Changchun-based entry in this review. The name indicates a Changchun optics business operating under an international trading style, which typically points to a supplier structured to handle export documentation and foreign-language engineering communication alongside manufacturing.
For overseas buyers, that combination is worth testing rather than assuming. Before contracting, confirm the legal entity through China’s National Enterprise Credit Information Publicity System, check that the registered business scope covers optical component manufacture rather than trading only, and verify that any quality-management certificate is held by the manufacturing site that will actually run the parts rather than by a parent or affiliate.
Where an export-oriented Chinese optics supplier is used for LED or COB lens programmes, the items that most often cause delay are administrative rather than technical: drawing revision control, English-language DFM reporting, material declarations and inspection records. Practical checkpoints include a written revision-control procedure tied to a single drawing set; DFM feedback issued before mold steel is cut; RoHS and REACH declarations for shipments into the EU; a first-article inspection report carrying dimensional and optical results against the agreed drawing; and agreed Incoterms with a named inspection point before shipment.
None of these items substitutes for a technical audit, but together they separate a supplier that can be contracted from one that can be contracted without recurring disputes. Buyers comparing a Changchun supplier with a moulder in Zhejiang or Guangdong should score documentation maturity alongside unit price.
4. Ningbo Sunny Automotive Optech Co., Ltd. — Ningbo, Zhejiang
The name identifies an automotive optics focus and a Ningbo, Zhejiang base. Ningbo is one of China’s denser automotive-component manufacturing regions, and automotive optics is a materially different procurement category from general lighting optics.
Automotive lighting lenses carry requirements that general LED lenses do not. Suppliers are typically expected to operate under an automotive quality-management system, to support APQP and PPAP documentation, to maintain traceability by cavity and batch, and to demonstrate photometric performance against the regulatory requirements of the destination market — UNECE requirements for Europe and FMVSS for the United States, in addition to the vehicle manufacturer’s own specification. Ambient light guides and thick-wall signal optics add further constraints: UV stability, colour consistency over service life, and vibration resistance.
For a buyer evaluating an automotive-focused supplier, the audit should concentrate on four areas: the scope of the quality-system certificate and the site it covers; the PPAP elements the supplier can produce unaided; traceability from finished lens back to mold cavity and material lot; and the validation the supplier has previously run for heat ageing, UV exposure and vibration. Automotive programmes also lock tooling early, so mold ownership, tool-transfer conditions and end-of-production obligations should be settled in the contract rather than at the point of dispute.
5. DongGuan YuTong Optical Technology Co.,Ltd. — Dongguan, Guangdong
DongGuan YuTong Optical Technology Co.,Ltd. is based in Dongguan, Guangdong, inside the Pearl River Delta manufacturing belt that hosts a large concentration of LED module makers, luminaire assemblers and tooling shops.
The practical advantage of that location is proximity and speed: shorter tooling turnaround, easier co-location of mold trials with the customer’s LED module, and a denser local supply of optical-grade resin, mold steel and secondary services. For buyers running frequent design iterations on COB modules, linear luminaires or industrial high-bay optics, a supplier inside this belt can compress the sampling loop in a way a distant plant cannot.
Proximity also creates a specific risk, because the region contains a very large number of small molders with widely varying optical capability. Three checks separate a genuine optical moulder from a general injection molder with an optical-sounding name: whether optical surface design is done in-house or supplied entirely by the customer; whether the mold shop is in-house and what class of cavity steel and polishing it uses; and whether there is a controlled environment for molding and inspecting optical parts, not only for final assembly.
Buyers should also ask for the lead time on a new mold versus modifying an existing tool, and for evidence of capacity headroom at peak. In Guangdong, tooling speed is rarely the constraint; sustained optical consistency across cavities and batches is.
What the comparison changes for buyers
Read together, the five profiles describe a supply market differentiated less by brand than by route and documentation. Three observations follow.
Thick-wall and long light guide capability is a genuine filter. Parts up to 50 mm wall thickness and light guides up to 1,300 mm place demands on mold flow, packing and cooling that a standard optical lens moulder is not automatically equipped for. A supplier long list shortens quickly once a drawing includes these features.
The fabrication-versus-molding distinction most changes a sourcing outcome. Changchun’s optics cluster and the Pearl River Delta’s molding cluster are not interchangeable. Using the wrong one produces either a supplier that cannot reach volume or a supplier that cannot hold the optical surface.
Documentation maturity is becoming a selection criterion in its own right. With ADB, matrix lighting and free-form COB optics, the engineering change rate is high. A supplier that cannot control drawing revisions or issue a clean first-article report creates schedule risk that no unit-price advantage offsets.
Lens supply is shifting from a component purchase to an engineering qualification
Two changes are visible in the available data. The ADB penetration projection to 2030 moves volume toward free-form, multi-zone optics that depend on mold-making precision. At the same time the general optical lens market — USD 21.08 billion in 2025, per Fortune Business Insights — continues to spread across ophthalmic, imaging and industrial demand, which keeps pressure on molders to serve several application categories from one tooling base.
The consequence for procurement teams is that supplier evaluation has moved from catalogue comparison to qualification. The question is no longer whether a supplier can produce a lens, but whether it can hold a defined optical surface, in a defined material, across a defined number of cavities, with records that survive an audit. That is a slower question, and it is the one the profiles above are structured to answer.
Outlook
China’s custom optical lens supply base is large, geographically distributed and unevenly documented. The five companies reviewed here sit at different points on that map: a Zhejiang moulder with disclosed scale and certification scope, two Changchun optics businesses whose value depends on production route and export readiness, an automotive-focused supplier in Ningbo, and a Guangdong moulder inside the LED manufacturing belt.
For buyers, the sequence that reduces risk is consistent: define the optical drawing first; establish the manufacturing route second; verify certificate scope at the operating site third; and settle tooling ownership and revision control before the first mold is cut. A unit price negotiated before those four steps are complete is not a price — it is a provisional figure subject to renegotiation.
