Lance, who has served as Board Chair since 2021, takes the helm of the sustainable waste solutions leader effective immediately; Azeez Mohammed to serve as Senior Advisor to the company and as an Industrial Advisor to EQT

Lance has been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. Lance has served as Chairman of the company’s Board of Directors since 2021, when funds managed by EQT Group acquired the former public company Covanta. He succeeds Azeez Mohammed, who will serve as Senior Advisor to the company and as an Industrial Advisor to EQT to support a seamless transition.

As Chairman, Lance has helped guide the company through a period of significant transformation, including its 2024 rebranding from Covanta to Reworld and its expanded focus on helping profiled waste customers achieve their sustainability and zero-waste-to-landfill goals.

Lance has had a distinguished career leading public and private technology and industrial companies across infrastructure, aerospace and defense, building materials, and healthcare. He has led global, multi-billion-dollar companies with a track record of strong financial results, organic growth and transformational M&A.

Since 2021, Lance has served as a Senior Advisor to EQT Group, where he Chairs the Boards of Reworld, Arcwood Environmental and Voltera Power. From 2016 to 2019, he was President and Chief Executive Officer of Maxar Technologies, a global provider of commercial satellite imagery, communications satellites, and space robotics. From 2012 to 2016, he was an Executive Advisor to the Blackstone Group, serving as Board Chair of Summit Materials, which went public in 2015, and Change Healthcare, which went public in 2019.

From 2003 to 2011, Lance was Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Harris Corporation (now L3Harris Technologies), a global provider of defense and public safety communications, aerospace systems, and advanced technology solutions. He previously served as Co-President of NCR Corporation and Chief Operating Officer of its Retail and Financial Group, and he spent 17 years at Emerson Electric Company, rising to Executive Vice President leading its Electronics and Telecommunications segment.

Lance currently serves on the board of Mercury Systems, where he Chairs the Human Capital and Compensation Committee. He has previously served on the boards of Eastman Chemical, Stryker, Ferrovial and Aviat Networks. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Bradley University and a Master of Science in Management from the Daniels School of Business at Purdue University.
