Yellow Duck today named Archie Grace as its chief technology officer (CTO) and co-founder. A foundational engineer behind Toast’s hyper-growth phase, Grace joins Yellow Duck to build the infrastructure layer the childcare industry has never had.

In his new role, Grace will lead Yellow Duck’s technology strategy and product execution, building a scalable platform designed to streamline day-to-day operations for childcare providers and simplify communication with families.
At Toast, Grace was part of the engineering team that developed the technology, including POS, payments and ordering operations, which powered its growth to an over $10 billion platform. He later served as CTO of Hone and VP of Engineering at KitchenSync.
That experience is central to Yellow Duck’s vision. The childcare industry faces the same operational challenges restaurants once did: fragmented systems, no purpose-built infrastructure and providers spending more time on administration than care. At Yellow Duck, Grace will build the back-office platform that changes that.
For Grace, the opportunity is as personal as it is professional. A father of three, he has experienced firsthand the friction between parents and childcare providers around scheduling, daily management and communication.
